Fall/Winter Fashion 2013

Fall/Winter Fashion 2013
Classic Staple Pieces, Returning Trends, and Newbies
With fall and winter clothing already being advertised for this coming season, which is just around the corner I might add, and the phenomenon known in America as “back-to-school-shopping”, it can be difficult to navigate what’s in style. It can also be an even bigger challenge deciding which trends will last more than one season. The most important thing to remember is to have fun with your outfits and to always own it. If you think you look good and walk with confidence others will believe the same.

Good things to keep in mind when shopping are the classic fall/winter staples such as pea coats , knit cardigan sweaters and eyeglasses which continue to appear timeless and effortless. A neutral colored pea coat (black, brown, grey) can be paired with leggings and t-shirt for a cozy casual look or warn over a favorite winter dress with a pair of heels for a done up look. Pair with jeans and boots for a solid school look. Sweaters are also great with leggings and a t or jeans and a pair of boots in any style. They can also make for a great accessory to take some of your summer clothes into fall. For instance try throwing a beige sweater over one of your bright colored sun dresses or a pair of colored denim to instantly winterize your go to summer outfits. Other staple pieces can include a blazer to wear similarly to the pea coat, a classic pair of riding boots (leather of faux), black leather or faux bag for daily use, and a fun knit scarf to add a pop of color and accessorize any outfit.

Now that you have an understanding of the classic must haves for fall and winter you can began to shop for clothes that are on trend for the season. This year the returning trends seem to be combat style boots, the notorious “hipster” beanies, over the knee socks, and print leggings. A new trend being harem pants, yes harem pants. Think circa 1990’s hammer time pants, but toned down a bit. And, also trending are wedge sneakers. If you’re not sure about the returning trends and don’t remember them from last year fear not. That’s what the attached pictures are here for. Now the only question is exactly how to wear these items. Combat style boots can be warn the same way you would wear any style of boots- with jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts, anyway you please and much the same with the beanies. My personal favorite outfit to wear my beanie with is a brown baby doll dress and faux leather vest. Over the knee socks are another good piece to winterize with. Try pulling on a pair with a mini/mid length shirt with a t tucked in. Print leggings, for the more daring fashionistas are best kept simple with a plain t-shirt or tank top. Finally to the new trends. My preferences- harem pants: high waisted worn with a crop top; wedge sneakers: worn with cropped pants and casual top, or a dress of choice.
